US envoy John Kerry warned Tuesday that the UN’s COP28 climate summit in Dubai was the world’s “last” chance to keep its target for limiting global warming alive.

“This is the last COP that we’ll have a chance to be able to keep 1.5 degrees alive,” Kerry told his counterparts, after the COP28’s Emirati presidency disappointed several nations by proposing a deal that falls short of a phase-out of fossil fuels.
